Goldendale Energy Storage Project Advances with Federal License
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners is advancing the Goldendale Energy Storage project, expected to commence commercial operations in 2031/32. This closed-loop pumped-storage hydropower facility will generate significant job opportunities and enhance regional energy storage capacity.

The Goldendale Energy Storage project will feature a closed-loop pumped-storage hydropower system with a total installed capacity of 1,200 MW from three pump-turbine units. The project includes an upper reservoir with a 23 m high rockfill embankment and a lower reservoir featuring a 62 m high embankment, designed for 12 hours of energy storage.
It received a 40-year license from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in February 2026, with commercial operations anticipated by 2031/32. The initiative is projected to generate over 3,000 construction jobs and around 70 full-time operational positions, reinforcing local economic development.
