Goldwind to Develop Major Green Hydrogen Project in Inner Mongolia
Goldwind, a leading figure in the wind turbine industry, is poised to embark on a transformative venture in Inner Mongolia, following unanimous approval from its board of directors. The ambitious project, valued at approximately 18.9 billion yuan (or $2.7 billion), will harness an impressive 3 gigawatts of wind energy.
Notably, over 80% of this capacity is earmarked for the production of hydrogen, a crucial component for green methanol and ammonia synthesis. This initiative aims to generate 600,000 tonnes of green methanol and 400,000 tonnes of ammonia annually.
The scale of the undertaking suggests that around 1.2 gigawatts of electrolysers will be necessary, although specific details regarding capacity have yet to be disclosed. As the world increasingly pivots towards sustainable energy solutions, Goldwind’s project could play a pivotal role in advancing green fuel technologies in China and beyond.
