Google has appointed Aris Karcanias to lead data center energy and infrastructure in EMEA, focusing on renewable energy supply. This role is critical as AI-driven electricity demand surges, requiring innovative solutions for clean power delivery.

Aris Karcanias has been appointed as the new head of data center energy and infrastructure for Google in the EMEA region, succeeding Maud Texier. He will operate from the London office, tasked with ensuring a reliable supply of clean energy for data centers.
Google has engaged in multiple renewable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in EMEA, including a 15-year 100MW PPA in Germany with EnBW and agreements with Engie in Belgium and the UK, as well as a 35MW wind PPA with Exus in Spain. The focus on renewable energy is increasingly important as AI technologies drive higher electricity demand, presenting both challenges and opportunities for sustainable energy solutions.
