Gotion Expands EV Battery Operations in Malaysia with Strategic Partnerships
Gotion, a leading battery manufacturer, is expanding its presence in Malaysia with a new facility in Johor. This investment is part of Gotion's strategy to enhance its manufacturing capabilities in Southeast Asia, complementing existing operations in Indonesia and Thailand.

Gotion has established a facility in Johor, Malaysia, focusing on battery pack manufacturing and module integration, in collaboration with local entities. This investment aligns with Gotion's broader strategy to strengthen its Southeast Asian manufacturing network, which includes a $2 billion battery plant in Illinois, USA, and a gigafactory in Slovakia set for 2026.
The company, which ranks 5th globally with a 4.5% market share, is also developing a 2 GWh line for solid-state batteries. The partnership with BASF aims to advance solid-state technology and local talent development through an R&D center with ITRAMAS Corporation and UEM Sunrise.
