Government Allocates Rs 88 Billion for Power Sector Development in 2026-27
The Pakistani government has earmarked Rs 88 billion for power sector initiatives in the PSDP for 2026-27, with significant funding for ongoing and new projects. This allocation is crucial for enhancing energy infrastructure and ensuring reliability in power supply.

For the fiscal year 2026-27, the Pakistani government has allocated Rs 88 billion for power sector development, with Rs 83.8 billion designated for 45 ongoing projects and Rs 4.2 billion for three new initiatives. Key ongoing projects include Rs 10.2 billion for reactive power compensation devices, Rs 5.8 billion for power evacuation from the DASU Hydropower Project, and Rs 5.1 billion for the HVDC transmission system connecting Tajikistan and Pakistan.
New projects include Rs 3.0 billion for battery energy storage systems and Rs 599 million for three-phase AMI meters. These investments are expected to improve energy efficiency and reliability, addressing ongoing energy challenges in the region.
