Goyang Special City Begins Construction of Hydrogen Power Plant in Seolmun-dong to Establish Mini Hydrogen City
Goyang Special City has launched a project to build a 9.9MW hydrogen fuel cell power plant in Seolmun-dong, attracting KRW 58 billion in private investment. The plant aims to produce 79,000 MWh of electricity annually for about 16,700 households and is set for commercial operation in December. The city is also developing a 'Mini Hydrogen City' in Gyeonggi Province, with a target completion by 2027, focused on hydrogen production and infrastructure.

Goyang Special City will begin construction of a 9.9MW hydrogen fuel cell power plant in Seolmun-dong in the first half of this year, with plans to establish a 'Mini Hydrogen City' by 2027. The project involves KRW 58 billion in private investment and aims to generate 79,000 MWh of electricity annually, sufficient for 16,700 households.
The city targets commercial operations by December 2026. Additionally, a new 2.5km pipeline for city gas supply will address residents' needs. The 'Mini Hydrogen City' initiative, funded with KRW 10 billion, aims to develop a hydrogen production facility and supply chain by 2027, expanding the mobility ecosystem with hydrogen vehicles.
