Grant PUD Initiates Condemnation for 32-Mile Transmission Line Project
Grant County Public Utility District has authorized condemnation proceedings to secure easements for a 32-mile transmission line. This project is vital for enhancing electrical reliability and meeting rising customer demands in the region.

Grant County Public Utility District (Grant PUD) has approved a resolution to initiate condemnation proceedings for easements required for a 32-mile transmission line from Wanapum Switchyard to Mountain View Substation. Following unsuccessful negotiations for easements on three parcels, legal action will be pursued to acquire rights necessary for this infrastructure project.
The line aims to accommodate increasing electrical load demands and enhance power quality across Grant PUD's service area. Currently, 132 easements are needed, with only two remaining outside of 13 pending court cases. Significant progress has been reported, indicating a strong commitment to infrastructure expansion amid regional growth.
