Grape Co Australia Secures Exclusive Rights to Premium Gold Kiwifruit Variety
Grape Co Australia has secured exclusive rights to the H14 gold kiwifruit variety, aiming to establish a competitive domestic market. The initiative reflects a strategic shift towards premium fruit production, countering New Zealand imports.

Grape Co Australia has obtained exclusive rights to the H14 gold kiwifruit variety, marking a significant expansion into the kiwifruit sector. The company plans to license production to growers across Australia, focusing on local production in key regions.
H14 is noted for its environmental sustainability, requiring only half the chilling hours of other varieties and not needing hydrogen cyanamide. The rollout will start gradually, assessing performance and consumer response over a two- to three-year period before expanding production.
Trials will occur in Tasmania and Western Australia, with further tests in non-traditional areas. Competing with New Zealand imports will hinge on delivering superior quality and flavor.
