Great South West Emerges as Key UK Investment Hub
The Great South West is positioning itself as a significant investment region in the UK, bolstered by key infrastructure projects and strategic partnerships. Its diverse economy and focus on clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and innovation create substantial opportunities for growth.

The Great South West (GSW) is gaining attention as a major investment opportunity in the UK, highlighted by projects like Hinkley Point C, which will generate 3.2 GW of low-carbon electricity. The region is also set to establish the £4bn Agratas gigafactory, expected to create approximately 4,000 jobs and produce 40GWh of battery cells annually.
Investments in critical minerals, such as lithium and copper, are reinforced by initiatives like the £28bn Dorset Clean Energy Super Cluster, aiming to support the UK’s net zero goals. Additionally, the Plymouth and South Devon Freeport is enhancing marine, defence, and space sectors, with a £4.4bn investment from the Ministry of Defence projected to bolster economic resilience in Plymouth. The GSW's focus on advanced manufacturing is further underscored by significant employment figures and training initiatives, attracting international investment, particularly from Canada.
