Greece Inaugurates DESFA's €73.94 Million Ampelia Natural Gas Compression Station in Thessaly
Greece inaugurated the €73.94 million Ampelia Natural Gas Compression Station in Thessaly, a facility aimed at receiving hydrogen-natural gas blends to support the country's energy transition. Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, highlighted DESFA's role in positioning Greece as a key energy hub in Europe, which will enhance natural gas supply to northeastern and central Europe while reducing reliance on Russian gas.

The inauguration of DESFA's Ampelia Natural Gas Compression Station in Thessaly, Greece, was attended by Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou. The €73.94 million facility is designed to receive hydrogen-natural gas blends, supporting energy transition goals.
Papastavrou emphasized DESFA's role in enhancing Greece's position as an energy hub in Europe, reducing dependence on Russian natural gas. The station will facilitate natural gas supply to northeastern and central Europe, establishing Greece as a stable energy corridor between East and West.
