Greece's ELTA Reform Transferred to Digital Governance Minister; OECD Support for Climate Policy Initiated
As of February 20, responsibility for Greece's postal service reform, ELTA, has shifted to Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis due to management concerns, delaying project completion to late April and impacting profitability projections for 2026. Additionally, the OECD will assist Greece's Ministry of National Economy in establishing a strategic unit for green transition by 2026. Meanwhile, hydrocarbon exploration south of Crete asserts Greek rights amid Aegean tensions, and Eldorado Gold plans to produce its first gold concentrate by Q4 2026.

On February 20, Greece's Minister of Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis took over the restructuring of the national postal service, ELTA, after concerns about management inefficiencies. Completion, now delayed to late April, may hinder profitability, with ELTA's management forecasting only marginal returns in 2026.
The OECD is set to support the Ministry of National Economy in creating a unit for climate policy, operational by 2026. Greek hydrocarbon exploration south of Crete challenges the Turkey-Libya maritime memorandum.
Tensions in the Aegean include postponed electricity interconnection projects. Eldorado Gold is expected to produce its first copper-gold concentrate in Q4 2026, forecasting significant gold output for that year.
