Green Brine Technologies Aims for Desalination Brine Utilization in Namibia
Green Brine Technologies is advancing a project to convert desalination brine into industrial chemicals in Namibia. The initiative aims to enhance local supply chains, reduce environmental impact, and support economic growth through job creation and reduced reliance on imports.

Green Brine Technologies, established in early 2023, targets the conversion of desalination brine into industrial chemicals, aiming for full-scale commercialization by 2029. The project, currently in its feasibility phase, includes a three-stage approach: mineral extraction, chemical production, and by-product generation.
The company plans to procure 48% of project costs locally, emphasizing small and medium enterprises in the Erongo region. Expected tax contributions could reach approximately US$7.2 million by 2031, while employment may rise from seven to over 120 jobs by 2029. This initiative is positioned to reduce Namibia's annual US$28 million expenditure on imported industrial chemicals.
