Greene County Plans Hyperscale Data Center and Power Plant at Former Robena Site
The Greene County Planning Commission approved preliminary work for a hyperscale data center and power plant at the former Robena Site in Monongahela Township, expected to attract a customer by spring 2026. In Washington County, significant retail redevelopment is underway, with Costco set to move into the Washington Mall, which is undergoing demolition funded by $5.9 million from the county's blight mitigation fund.
The Washington Crown Center is also being transformed into Franklin Crossroads Park with exterior storefronts. Legal issues persist at the Uniontown Mall, with a lawsuit filed against its owners for safety violations.
Additionally, local immigrant communities face increased ICE raids, and there is a contentious relationship between the Washington County DA and coroner regarding death investigations. The Penn State Fayette campus is set to close in 2027 after declining enrollment, while the state Supreme Court streamlined mail-in ballot procedures following a lawsuit in Washington County.
