Young entrepreneurs in Plukmade, Netherlands, are expanding greenhouse operations despite energy uncertainties, with significant potential outputs. Bos Kwekerijen's new greenhouse construction increases total area to 18.5 hectares, aiming for a production of 2 million kg of peppers annually.

In Plukmade, North Brabant, Bos Kwekerijen is developing a new greenhouse, expanding its area to 18.5 hectares. This expansion is driven by young growers Remco Bos and Jordy van der Lans, who are taking over family businesses and are committed to scaling operations despite challenges such as the upcoming closure of the nearby Amercentrale power plant and the lack of geothermal energy access.
The new facility is projected to yield about 2 million kg of peppers annually. The success of these projects may hinge on addressing the energy supply issues, which could impact future agricultural growth in the region.
