Groupe SPB Acquires Condat Paper Mill; Plans for Job Losses and New Biopark Development
Groupe SPB has completed the acquisition of the Condat paper mill, with plans to abandon paper production. Only 21 of 202 jobs will remain. SPB's multi-sector project aims to create 300 new jobs over five years and involves a €95 million investment in sustainable initiatives and a 200 MW green energy hub. A feasibility study with Delfort on restarting PM 8 will occur over five months, while the site will be transformed into a Biopark focusing on aluminum recycling and nanocellulose production.

Groupe SPB has finalized its takeover of the Condat paper mill, likely leading to the cessation of paper production. The Bordeaux Commercial Court approved SPB's bid, retaining only 21 out of 202 jobs.
SPB plans a reindustrialization project emphasizing a decarbonized circular economy, aiming to create 300 jobs in five years. The company will evaluate the feasibility of restarting the PM 8 line with Delfort over five months. The site will transition to a Biopark for aluminum recycling and nanocellulose production, supported by a €95 million investment and the development of a 200 MW green energy hub, alongside a €400 million digital initiative.
