Guadalupe County Commissioners voted 3-2 to decline a tax abatement agreement with CloudBurst for a proposed data center valued over $10 billion. The campus would include 10-12 AI-Ready buildings and generate approximately 480 permanent jobs.
The 10-year tax abatement proposed a 90% reduction in county taxes for the first five years, tapering to 40% in year ten. Residents raised concerns regarding water usage and environmental impacts associated with data centers. The commission's decision did not close the door on future proposals from CloudBurst, as some members expressed the need for more time to evaluate details.
