Guangdong Launches World's First Large-Scale Chemical Recycling Plant for Plastics
Guangdong has inaugurated the world's first continuous, large-scale chemical recycling plant for mixed waste plastics in Jieyang. Dongyue Chemical's project aims to recycle 200,000 tons per year using innovative one-step technology, transforming low-value waste into high-value resources. A 200-hectare green recycling industrial park is also underway, with a second-phase investment of 22.6 billion yuan to produce over 2 million tons of green olefins annually. This advancement positions Guangdong as a significant player in the global petrochemical industry.

Guangdong's Jieyang has launched the world's first large-scale chemical recycling plant for mixed waste plastics, initiated by Dongyue Chemical, with a capacity of 200,000 tons per year. This innovative one-step technology allows for direct transformation of low-value waste plastics into new plastics, bypassing traditional sorting methods.
Concurrently, a 200-hectare green recycling industrial park is being developed, with a second-phase investment of 22.6 billion yuan targeting a capacity of 3 million tons and an output of over 2 million tons of green olefins annually. The region is also home to key projects like the ExxonMobil Huizhou Ethylene Project, which enhances its industrial landscape. Guangdong's petrochemical sector, comprising over 9,800 firms generating 2 trillion yuan in revenue, is evolving into a major global hub through innovation and strategic investments.
