Gujarat Government Unveils ₹4.08 Lakh Crore Budget with Focus on Commonwealth 2030 and Mining Projects
The Gujarat government announced a ₹4.08 lakh crore surplus budget for FY27, reflecting a 10.2% increase from FY26. Key highlights include ₹1,278 crore for sports infrastructure to prepare Ahmedabad for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and ₹613 crore for the Ambaji Copper Project, Gujarat's first underground copper mine.
The budget allocates ₹300 crore for a lignite-based underground coal gasification initiative and ₹150 crore for a floating solar project at Kadana Dam. Upgrades to 25 GIDC estates and the establishment of five new industrial estates aim to enhance industrialisation.
The Gujarat State Export Promotion Council was formed to boost exports. Additionally, ₹4,272 crore is allocated for housing schemes, while the Gau Mata Poshan Yojana receives ₹500 crore for cattle welfare.
