Gujarat's Banas Bio-CNG Plant Model Expands Nationally Under PM Modi's Waste to Wealth Vision
Gujarat's Banas Bio-CNG plant converts cow dung into clean fuel and fertiliser, supporting rural economies. With a Rs 60 crore investment, the state aims to establish more plants, enhancing sustainable growth. The initiative has inspired nearly 15 states to adopt this model, contributing to environmental conservation and self-reliance in rural communities.

Gujarat's Banas Bio-CNG plant, converting cow dung into clean fuel and fertiliser, is being adopted by nearly 15 states as part of PM Modi's 'Waste to Wealth' initiative. The Gujarat Government allocated Rs 60 crore for additional plants, aiming to boost the dairy sector and rural economies.
The existing plant, operational for six years with a capacity of 40 tonnes daily, supports 400-450 farmers by paying Rs 1 per kg of dung. New facilities will process 100 tonnes of dung daily and generate over Rs 3 lakh in daily revenue from biogas and fertilisers, reducing 6,750 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
