Guldborgsund Kommune Faces Setbacks in Energy Park Project Amid State Regulatory Issues
Guldborgsund Kommune's solar energy project has stalled due to state-imposed restrictions, impacting energy development plans. The municipality seeks a ministerial approval to proceed, facing a dual challenge of energy demands and regulatory hurdles.

Guldborgsund Kommune's solar energy project, in collaboration with Begreen and Skjørringe Gods, has encountered significant delays as the state has vetoed the initiative due to concerns over protected land. The project, covering 220 hectares, violates forest protection lines, stalling its designation as a state energy park.
Mayor Simon Hansen emphasizes the paradox of needing energy for new businesses while being denied the ability to generate it. A datacenter investment worth approximately 20 billion DKK is on hold, requiring significant energy and connectivity. The municipality is appealing to the climate, energy, and supply minister for reconsideration to facilitate sustainable development, especially with local support for the solar initiative.
