GWEC Supports Electrify Now Campaign to Boost Renewable Energy Electrification
The Electrify Now campaign aims to increase global electrification from 21% to 35% by 2035, focusing on renewable energy. Supported by over 40 organizations and multiple governments, it seeks to replace fossil fuels with electric solutions across various sectors.

The Electrify Now initiative, launched by the Global Renewables Alliance with backing from the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), targets a significant increase in global electrification. The campaign aims to elevate electrification from the current 21% to 35% by 2035, promoting the transition from fossil fuels to electric systems in transport, heating, and industrial processes.
Supported by the European Commission and the governments of the UK, Australia, Turkey, and Ethiopia, the campaign mobilizes over 40 stakeholders to advance this goal through policies and investments. It emphasizes the need for international cooperation and the integration of electrification into energy strategies. The initiative aligns with scientific recommendations from IEA and IRENA, highlighting the urgency of transitioning to clean energy to strengthen energy security and reduce emissions.
