H-Dual Project Launches Hydrogen-Diesel Solution for Road Haulage
The H-Dual project, launched on May 15, 2026, aims to integrate hydrogen into the fuel mix of road haulage vehicles to reduce emissions by up to 30%. This initiative addresses infrastructure challenges while promoting gradual adoption of dual-fuel technology in existing fleets.

The H-Dual project was introduced at the Transpotec Logitec event on May 15, 2026, by Ford Trucks Italia and partners including Ecomotive Solutions and Politecnico di Milano. Designed to decarbonise road haulage, it utilizes hydrogen blended with HVO in a Ford F-Max L vehicle.
This dual-fuel system allows for operational continuity as hydrogen supplements diesel, ensuring no disruption in service. The initiative aims for hydrogen to make up at least 30% of the energy mix, with further testing of H2Ng blends planned.
Safety infrastructure will be managed by Sfbm and Greenture, facilitating a necessary refuelling network development across Italy. The project seeks to evolve vehicle performance while minimizing emissions and total ownership costs, emphasizing regulatory adaptation for future commercialization. Collaboration across the supply chain is highlighted as crucial for the project's success.
