H2Au Secures 3.4 Million Acres for Hydrogen Exploration in South Africa's Bushveld Region
H2Au Ltd has received exclusive three-year hydrogen exploration licenses from South Africa's Petroleum Agency SA, covering approximately 3.4 million acres in the Bushveld region. The licenses span Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Gauteng, and North-West provinces, an area noted for its high geological hydrogen potential.
H2Au's Natural Hydrogen Exploration technology combined on-ground sampling and geochemical analysis to identify promising targets, supported by historic mine data showing hydrogen concentrations up to 80%. The company's footprint in South Africa now exceeds 18,000 km² following previous permits.
H2Au aims to attract investment for detailed resource mapping and pilot production, with the next phase including drilling and reservoir testing. Final approval from the Minister of Mines and Energy is anticipated in Q2 2026. Successful exploration could position H2Au to capitalize on a growing demand for natural hydrogen in local industries.
