H2SKID Initiative Launches Portable 1.25 MW Electrolyser for Industrial Hydrogen Supply in Basque Country
The H2SKID initiative has launched a 1.25 MW portable electrolyser aimed at supplying green hydrogen to industrial users in the Basque Country. Coordinated by SARRALLE and involving multiple partners, the project will be validated at ArcelorMittal Sestao and is funded by the Basque Government and the ERDF, running from 2025 to 2027 to enhance the region's hydrogen ecosystem and support industrial decarbonisation.

The H2SKID project has launched to develop a 1.25 MW portable AEM/PEM electrolyser for supplying green hydrogen to industrial users in the Basque Country. Coordinated by SARRALLE and involving Sener and ten other companies, the project aims to address the lack of pipeline infrastructure and facilitate long-duration testing.
The system will be validated at ArcelorMittal Sestao and serve as both an industrial demonstration platform and a research tool. Funded by the Basque Government and the ERDF, the project will run from 2025 to 2027 and is expected to support the region's hydrogen ecosystem and accelerate industrial decarbonisation. The electrolyser will consist of two container modules for hydrogen generation and gas compression, designed for flexibility and ease of deployment.
