Haitian Government Signs Contract for Solar Power Plant in Jacmel
The Haitian Ministry of Public Works has signed a contract with ESD Engineering Services S.R.L. to develop a photovoltaic solar power plant in Jacmel, funded by a $7 million World Bank grant. The facility will feature a 4 MW capacity and a 6 MWh battery energy storage system, along with necessary grid expansions, aiming to stabilize electricity supply and promote renewable energy in Haiti.

On January 15, 2026, the Haitian Ministry of Public Works (MTPTC) signed a contract with ESD Engineering Services S.R.L. for a photovoltaic solar power plant in Jacmel, funded by the World Bank with $7 million. The plant will have a capacity of 4 MW and a battery energy storage system of 6 MWh, along with 4 km of low-voltage and 7 km of medium-voltage grid expansion. The project aims to stabilize electricity supply and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, serving as a model for renewable energy in Haiti.
