Halo Minerals Pursues Maritime Concession for Playa Verde Project in Chile
Halo Minerals is filing for a maritime concession in Chile to enhance tailings resources for its Playa Verde copper project. This move could significantly increase the available tonnage for copper production and extend the project's lifespan.

Halo Minerals PLC is seeking a maritime concession in Chile to increase the available tailings tonnage for its Playa Verde copper project by over 100 million tonnes. This concession area extends 1.5 kilometers offshore from the shoreline in Chañaral, which may provide access to historic submarine tailings.
Currently, Playa Verde has a JORC-compliant onshore resource of 53 million tonnes and 32.2 million tonnes of ore reserves, focused on reprocessing historic mining waste. The high-water line survey for the concession has been completed, with public notice from DIRECTEMAR anticipated by Q2 2026. This initiative could significantly enhance copper output and address longstanding community issues in Chañaral.
