Hancock County Council Reviews Warehouse Developments and Potential Data Center Proposal
During a recent meeting, Hancock County Council discussed warehouse occupancy and potential economic development violations. Walmart and Amazon have acquired significant warehouse space, while Sugar Foods Corp. opted to relocate. The council addressed issues with economic development agreements, including failed commitments leading to zoning reinstatements. A potential data center proposal is under consideration, with no formal plans submitted yet.

Hancock County Council reviewed development progress, noting increased warehouse occupancy. Walmart acquired the C5 Indianapolis East building for a distribution center, and Amazon purchased a warehouse on Buck Creek Road.
Despite these developments, Sugar Foods Corp. chose to move to Whiteland instead of a local warehouse. Randy Sorrell from the Hancock Economic Development Council reported significant activity in the past months but noted some economic development agreements are at risk of expiration. A potential data center proposal exists in an industrially zoned area, possibly near Interstate 70, but no formal plans have been filed.
