HandPhil Enertex signed a memorandum of agreement with Lubang Electric Cooperative (Lubelco) on January 29, 2026, to develop a 1-megawatt solar photovoltaic project with a battery energy storage system on Lubang Island, Occidental Mindoro. The project marks the first phase of a partnership aimed at reducing the island's reliance on diesel and lowering power generation costs.

The initiative supports the Philippine government’s target of achieving 35% renewable energy in the power generation mix by 2030. The battery energy storage system will enhance grid stability and ensure reliable power supply.

Full operations are expected to commence within eight months. HandPhil will manage the project's development, financing, and long-term operation in collaboration with Lubelco and the Department of Energy.
