Hanseatic Hydrogen Center for Aviation and Maritime Established in Northern Germany
The Hanseatic Hydrogen Center for Aviation and Maritime (H2AM) is being established in northern Germany, focusing on aviation and shipping. It aims to create a development and testing environment for start-ups and SMEs, develop regulations, and provide services for hydrogen stakeholders. Locations include Hamburg, Stade, and Bremen/Bremerhaven. The Fraunhofer CML and ZAL GmbH will collaborate on research and infrastructure, with funding of nearly 70 million euros from the BMDV.

The Hanseatic Hydrogen Center for Aviation and Maritime (H2AM) is established in northern Germany to support aviation and shipping under the national hydrogen strategy. H2AM will provide a research and testing environment for start-ups and SMEs, develop regulations, and offer services for hydrogen suppliers.
Key locations are Hamburg, Stade, and Bremen/Bremerhaven, with Hamburg as a central mobility hub. The Fraunhofer CML and ZAL GmbH will collaborate on hydrogen research, focusing on bunkering processes, fuel cell integration, and safety regulations. The CML plans to create a Fuel Cell Integration Center and a Multi-Fuel Bunkering Facility in Hamburg, supported by nearly 70 million euros in funding from the BMDV.
