Hanwha Ocean Orders Equipment for New LNG Carrier Series with Advanced BOG System
Hanwha Ocean has contracted 14 boil-off gas compressors from Burckhardt Compression for seven 174,000-m³ LNG carriers. This project signifies the initial commercial application of Burckhardt's high-pressure boil-off gas compressor generation, enhancing the efficiency of next-generation LNG vessels.

Hanwha Ocean has placed an order for 14 boil-off gas compressors to be used in a series of seven 174,000-m³ LNG carriers. This contract with Burckhardt Compression marks the first commercial use of their high-pressure boil-off gas compressor technology, designed for next-generation LNG carriers.
The vessels will utilize a combination of GTT's NO96 Super+ cargo system and Everllence's ME-GI propulsion system, achieving 330-bar gas injection pressure. The arrangement aims to reduce boil-off gas rates and enhance energy efficiency, complying with stricter emissions regulations. The advancement in technology could significantly impact operational costs and emissions profiles for LNG shipping.
