Hassan Allam awarded contract for 200 MW Solar and Storage Plant in Egypt
Hassan Allam Utilities has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for a 200 MW solar power plant in Benban, Aswan governorate. The project, developed with Infinity Power, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and Meridiam, includes a 120 MWh battery energy storage system capable of a two-hour dispatch.
Expected to commence commercial operations in the second half of 2026, the plant will connect to the grid via the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company. This initiative is part of a broader program aiming for 1,200 MW of solar capacity and aligns with Egypt's goal of achieving 42% renewable energy in its electricity mix by 2030 and 60% by 2040.
