Haverhill Township has completed a cleanup of 80,000 tires from an 18-acre site, a project funded at $550,000 through the 2024 Environment and Natural Resources Budget. The location, formerly a U.S. Air Force radar base, was forfeited to Olmsted County in 2017.
Cleanup efforts included the removal of petroleum tanks and asbestos. The initiative involved collaboration among township officials, county representatives, and environmental agencies, demonstrating effective community engagement. Ten acres are anticipated to be developed for future projects, including solar energy.
