HBIS Resources Projects Significant H1 Loss Amid Production Disruptions
HBIS Resources anticipates a net loss of RMB 115-145 million ($16.9-21.3 million) for H1 2026, a stark contrast to last year's net profit of RMB 262 million. The loss is attributed to operational disruptions caused by severe weather affecting its South African subsidiary, Palabora Copper.

For the first half of 2026, HBIS Resources Co., Ltd. expects a net loss of RMB 115-145 million ($16.9-21.3 million), in contrast to a net profit of RMB 262 million in the same period in 2025. This anticipated loss is primarily due to significant damage to its subsidiary Palabora Copper (Pty) Ltd. in South Africa from heavy rainfall and flooding, which halted copper production and sales.
Increased operational costs from emergency measures and facility restoration further impacted financial performance. The company's revenue decline highlights risks associated with extreme weather events in mining operations.
