HCMC Allocates VND12.705 Trillion for Science and Technology in 2026 Budget
Ho Chi Minh City will allocate VND12.705 trillion for science and technology in its 2026 budget, accounting for 4.16% of total public spending. Key initiatives include establishing a technology exchange platform, an Innovation Center, and improving digital infrastructure, with plans to expand 5G coverage and develop a smart city proposal by Q1-2026. The city will also coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security on the National Data Center No.2 and implement five task groups to enhance data-sharing and public services.

In 2026, Ho Chi Minh City will allocate VND12.705 trillion to science and technology, representing 4.16% of total public spending. The HCMC Steering Committee convened to review 2025 and outline 2026 tasks under several government resolutions.
Key initiatives include a technology exchange platform, an Innovation Center, and a venture capital fund. The city aims to expand 5G coverage from 70% to 80%, improve digital infrastructure, and unveil a smart city development proposal in Q1-2026.
Coordination with the Ministry of Public Security will focus on the National Data Center No.2 and developing a digital citizen framework. Colonel Nguyen Dinh Duong outlined five task groups to enhance Scheme 06 and Resolution 57, including a data-sharing platform and public service initiatives.
