HCMC Faces Energy Challenges Amid Growth Goals
HCMC's energy instability poses risks to its economic growth, with over 70% of power sourced from the national grid. The city seeks to expand renewable energy to support its burgeoning tech sectors, particularly data centers requiring substantial electricity.

HCMC aims for a budget revenue target of 1 trillion VND while over 70% of its electricity comes from the national grid. The city's data centers, anticipated to consume around 1,000MW by 2030, highlight the urgent need for clean and stable energy.
Current solar rooftop installations remain under 20%, despite significant potential. Experts warn that energy reliability must be near-perfect for high-tech industries. The city plans to enhance its energy infrastructure and streamline regulatory processes to prevent bottlenecks in achieving its growth targets. As of now, the city has installed 22,355 solar systems, totaling approximately 1,832 MWp, indicating room for expansion in residential and industrial sectors.
