Health Risks from Proposed Diesel Generators at Archbald Data Center Campus
A public health expert warns that the 588 diesel generators for the planned Wildcat Ridge Data Center in Archbald could result in annual health damages between $3 and $124 million. The cumulative health impacts of multiple data center proposals in the area raise significant concerns for local residents.

Michael Cork, a public health expert and CEO of Empower Analytics Group, testified that the proposed diesel generators for the Wildcat Ridge Data Center could lead to substantial health risks, estimating damages between $3 and $124 million annually. His analysis, utilizing the EPA's COBRA tool, indicates potential health impacts from diesel exhaust, including increased rates of asthma and lung cancer.
The current proposal from Cornell Realty Management includes 588 generators on a 500-acre site in Archbald, with ongoing hearings regarding zoning. Concerns have been raised about the cumulative health effects of multiple data center projects in the borough, as residents believe these should be considered collectively rather than individually. The lack of defined generator specifications and emissions controls from the developer adds to the uncertainty.
