Heart Aerospace Receives FAA Approval for X1 Electric Aircraft Flight Testing
Heart Aerospace has received FAA authorization for flight tests of the X1, the world's largest electric aircraft. This approval marks a significant advancement in the development of the ES-30 hybrid-electric regional aircraft, targeting commercial certification by 2031.

The FAA has granted Heart Aerospace a Special Airworthiness Certificate in the Experimental Category for the X1 demonstrator, enabling flight testing at Plattsburgh International Airport, New York. This move progresses the program from ground testing to airborne data collection, critical for the development of the ES-30, a planned 30-seat hybrid-electric aircraft.
The X1 features a wingspan of 106 ft and a maximum take-off weight exceeding 25,000 lb, serving as a full-scale demonstrator to validate technologies and flight characteristics. With the ability to operate on battery for 125 miles and hybrid for up to 500 miles, the ES-30 aims to reduce emissions and operational costs in regional aviation. The flight-test campaign will yield performance data essential for refining the ES-30 design and advancing towards certification.
