Höegh Autoliners Expands Fleet with First Ammonia Car Carrier
Höegh Autoliners has initiated construction of the world's first dual-fuel ammonia car carrier, enhancing its zero-emission shipping efforts. This milestone follows the delivery of a smaller feeder PCTC, the Höegh Pacific, aimed at connecting Central America and the Caribbean.

Höegh Autoliners is advancing its fleet with the construction of the world's first dual-fuel ammonia car carrier, part of its Aurora class, which includes nine vessels with 9,100 CEU capacity. This vessel, under construction by China Merchants Heavy Industries, enables Net Zero deep sea transportation.
Recent delivery of the 2,450 CEU Höegh Pacific represents a collaboration between partners CQC and CMHI, designed for Central America and Caribbean routes. Höegh's 2025 report indicates strong financial performance despite market volatility, bolstered by a modern fleet and robust contract backlog. In related news, Grimaldi took delivery of Grande Tokyo, a 9,241 CEU PCTC, now servicing Latin America.
