The Hessian government and business leaders are calling for the establishment of more data centers to facilitate industrial transformation. Digital Minister Kristina Sinemus and Dirk Pollert, CEO of the Hessian Entrepreneurs' Association, emphasize this need in light of declining industrial value-added share.
A strategy paper outlining the data center strategy is set for approval by June, following consultations among business, science, and political representatives. Pollert criticized local decisions in Groß-Gerau that hindered a €2.5 billion investment in a data center, arguing that without digital infrastructure, many jobs are at risk. The strategy aims to broaden site policies, enhance digital infrastructure, and provide planning certainty for investors while pushing for tax redistribution and lower energy costs.
