HET Hydrogen Delivers 5MW AEM Electrolyser for Replacement of Grey Hydrogen
HET Hydrogen has delivered a 5MW AEM electrolyser to an undisclosed site, set for commissioning in the upcoming weeks. This deployment marks a significant advancement in AEM technology, aiming to replace conventional grey hydrogen supplies with a lower-capital solution.

HET Hydrogen has successfully delivered a 5MW AEM electrolyser to a customer site, with commissioning expected in the coming weeks. This unit represents a noteworthy shift in AEM technology, which has traditionally been limited to smaller applications.
The electrolyser promises a lifespan of 35,000 hours, comparable to some PEM systems, and includes a refurbishment plan supporting operations for up to 20 years. Additionally, it features a cold start-up time of under 30 minutes, operating efficiently across a range of 10% to 110% of nominal load.
HET plans further expansion, including a gigawatt-capacity assembly plant in India and deployments at a Chinese steelworks in 2025. These advancements could enhance competitive dynamics within the electrolysis sector.
