Himachal Pradesh Cancels 15 Hydroelectric Projects; Allocates Pandoh Project to BBMB
The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet cancelled 15 hydroelectric projects that did not commence construction despite a one-time amnesty scheme aimed at reviving delayed projects. The decision, taken by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, was due to developers' inability to utilize provided opportunities for regularization.
Additionally, the Cabinet allocated a 10 MW Small Hydro Electric Project at Pandoh to the Bhakra Beas Management Board, contingent on the return of unused land to the state. The state will receive 13% free power plus an additional 5% once the project is operational. This cancellation allows for the reallocation of hydropower sites to serious developers, enhancing future electricity generation.
