Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Reports Over 1,000 Vacant Government Buildings
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that 1,098 government buildings remain unused, despite significant expenditure. The buildings, belonging to various departments, health, and educational institutions, have not been utilized. Concerns were raised in the assembly regarding the need to identify and utilize these resources effectively. Additionally, the state has a hydropower generation potential of 22,950 MW, with 188 projects operational and further developments underway.

In Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reported that 1,098 government buildings are currently vacant despite substantial investments. These buildings belong to various departments and institutions, with some information still pending that may raise this number.
Concerns were expressed about the need to utilize these resources effectively. The state has a hydropower potential of 22,950 MW, with about 13,000 MW currently generated from 188 operational projects.
There are 24 projects under construction and several facing legal disputes or deemed unfeasible. The state is also expanding its solar energy capacity, expecting to operationalize 209 MW by March 31.
