Himachal Pradesh Signs Agreement with Oil India Limited for Green Hydrogen Production
Himachal Pradesh has signed an agreement with Oil India Limited to advance green hydrogen production, as announced by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu during the 'Enviro-Ideation Hackathon' in Shimla. The state, which has banned single-use plastics since 2009, is also focusing on economic revamps, including converting diesel buses to electric and supporting education initiatives for orphaned children. The hackathon awarded cash prizes for innovative projects and featured a 'Waste to Wonder' Model Competition, alongside a donation of Rs 2 crore to the Chief Minister Relief Fund.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced a partnership with Oil India Limited to promote green hydrogen production. This agreement was revealed during the 'Enviro-Ideation Hackathon' organized by the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board in Shimla.
The state has imposed a ban on single-use plastics since 2009 and is seeking alternatives. CM Sukhu highlighted efforts to revamp the economy, including converting diesel buses to e-buses and enhancing education through Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools.
The government has adopted 6,000 orphan children as 'Children of the State' to assist with education costs. Cash prizes were awarded to winners of the hackathon, with first place receiving Rs 1 lakh. The event also featured a 'Waste to Wonder' Model Competition with prizes for top projects. A cheque for Rs 2 crore was presented to the Chief Minister for the Chief Minister Relief Fund.
