Hindalco Launches E-Waste Facility to Enhance Mineral Recovery in India
Hindalco Industries has established an e-waste recycling facility in Pakhajan to recover critical minerals and rare earth elements. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance resource efficiency and promote circular economy practices in India.

Hindalco Industries has inaugurated an e-waste recycling facility in Pakhajan, aimed at processing printed circuit boards to recover valuable materials such as copper and rare earth elements. The facility utilizes a seven-stage detoxification process for effective recovery.
This initiative aligns with Hindalco's sustainability strategy and supports the country's critical minerals recovery efforts. Additionally, the company has invested in two recycling-focused projects last year, including integrating end-of-life aluminium scrap into manufacturing.
Novelis, Hindalco's subsidiary, recycles 64% of end-of-life aluminium scrap. Hindalco's aluminium production is currently about 1.36 million metric tonnes annually.
