Hindustan Organic Chemicals Reduces Production at Kochi Plant Due to LPG Supply Disruption
Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd (HOCL) announced a reduction in production at its Kochi plant due to a disruption in bulk LPG supply from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). The disruption follows a Government of India directive prioritizing LPG for domestic consumers. HOCL's LPG buffer stock is expected to deplete by 9 March, leading to a temporary shutdown of its PRU unit and other downstream units if supplies do not resume. The hydrogen peroxide plant will continue operations despite the LPG shortage.

Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd (HOCL) has reduced production at its Kochi plant due to a disruption in bulk LPG supply from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). This disruption is a result of a Government of India directive prioritizing LPG for domestic consumers.
BPCL notified HOCL of a force majeure event affecting LPG supply. HOCL's buffer stock is projected to run out by the evening of 9 March, prompting a reduction in production at the Phenol and Cumene plants and a temporary shutdown of the PRU unit.
The hydrogen peroxide plant will remain operational. HOCL cautioned that continued LPG shortages could result in production losses and increased restart costs.
