Hinjawadi IT Park to Implement Rs 11 Crore Waste-to-Bio-CNG Plant by December 2026
The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is establishing a waste management plant in Hinjawadi to process 10 tonnes of waste daily and produce bio-CNG. This initiative addresses increasing waste concerns in the IT hub while promoting a circular economy.

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is developing a waste management facility in Hinjawadi IT Park, with an investment of ₹11 crore. The plant, covering two hectares, is set to process 10 tonnes of waste daily and generate 150 to 200 kilograms of bio-CNG.
Construction commenced in March 2024, targeting completion by December 2026. The facility will operate under a Build-Operate-Transfer model for 10 years, including waste collection and maintenance. A CNG dispensing station will be integrated into the project to supply the bio-CNG produced, enhancing sustainable transportation within the park. This initiative aims to improve waste management and contribute to a circular economy by converting waste into energy.
