Hoboken Council Approves $553K Contract for Lead Service Line Testing

Hoboken City Council has approved a $552,900 engineering contract with CDM Smith for Phase 1 of lead service line replacements. This initiative, funded by the local water utility, is aimed at replacing lead service lines by 2031.

The project involves the creation of 500 test pits around the city, measuring 18 x 18 inches, with work set to commence in spring. CDM Smith will recommend test pit locations, develop site plans, assist in contractor procurement, and oversee construction. The resolution passed unanimously with a vote of 9-0.
