Holbæk to Develop One of the Nordics' Largest Hyperscale Data Centers Amid Green Energy Demand
Energinet faces pressure to expand green energy infrastructure as new hyperscale data centers demand significant power. A planned data center in Holbæk will cover 150,000 square meters, providing data capacity for AI, social media, and streaming services. The local government is developing a local plan to facilitate this project, with completion expected in five to six years.

Energinet is under pressure to enhance green energy infrastructure to meet the rising demand from large data centers. A new hyperscale data center is planned in Holbæk, covering 150,000 square meters and housing hundreds of thousands of servers for AI, social media, and streaming services.
The mayor, Christina Krzyrosiak Hansen, supports the project for its potential job creation. The municipal council is drafting a local plan, and with this plan, developer EMCH will negotiate with international data center operators to secure users. The center may be operational in five to six years.
