Honda Launches Insight BEV in Japan Amid Strategic Shift
Honda has commenced sales of the Insight battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Japan, targeting 3,000 units. This move aligns with Honda's adaptation to market demands and a focus on the Asian BEV sector.

Honda Motor has started the sale of the Insight BEV in Japan, sourced from Dongfeng Honda Automobile Company. This model features a 68.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, enabling a range of 535 km and an 80% charge in 40 minutes, priced at JPY 5.5 million (US$ 34,500).
Honda aims to sell 3,000 units of the new Insight. Earlier, the company introduced the Super-One compact BEV, set to launch in May. Honda's strategy now emphasizes Asia, particularly China, while reducing BEV investments in North America due to declining demand linked to the removal of government incentives. This shift may impact Honda's competitive positioning in global EV markets.
