Honeywell to Supply Technology for eSAF Production in South Africa
Honeywell UOP's process technology will enable Phelan Green's facility in Saldanha Bay to produce over 140,000 tons of eSAF annually, targeting the EU and UK markets. This initiative is part of a larger investment valued at approximately 47 billion Rand, recognized by the South African government as a strategic green industry project.

Phelan Green has selected Honeywell UOP's Fischer-Tropsch Unicracking process for an eSAF production plant in Saldanha Bay, West Cape. The facility aims to produce over 140,000 tons of eSAF per year once operational.
The project forms part of the Phelan Green Hydrogen Project, with an investment of around 47 billion Rand (approximately 2.5 billion USD). Construction is set to commence in Q4 2026, as recognized by the South African government as a national strategic initiative.
The choice of Fischer-Tropsch Unicracking is based on its proven scalability and financing viability. This development positions South Africa as a potential eSAF export hub.
